Thinking about rock climbing again...soon

August 23, 2010 Ice Climbing by Administrator Edit

As some of you know I had an ice climbing accident last year and I was able to by the end of 2009 throughout the early 2010 season I was back on the ice; I decided that this summer I wasnt going to rock climb or boulder to let my feet heal even more.  I am not debating whether I am going to get back on the wall and slowy get back into it.  We have this really cheesy rock wall here, but its about 35 feet high and the toughest maybe a 5.10 so I think it will help strengthen my feet and stretch out my muscles as well.  Yep gonna do it.  It has been decided as i write this lol

No Rock Climbing this Season

June 07, 2010 Ice Climbing by Administrator Edit

Well...Its been awhile since I have posted on my blog.  Things have been busy and unfortunately I put the site on the back burner.  During the ice climbing season my postings are more frequent, however I decided this summer that I am not going to rock climb.  It was a tough choice.  As you may have read I had an ice climbing accident last year that resulted in breaking both my feet.  Through determination and stubbornness I was back on the rocks 6 months later and back on the ice 3 months after that.  I have been back out running when I can, but my feet still get aggreviated and need to take time off for a couple of days.  Soooooo...I would rather stay in tip top shape for ice climbing which is my absolute passion, then risk injury rock climbing (especially) bouldering.

Climbing Soon?

April 02, 2010 Ice Climbing by Administrator Edit

Well my shift work finally comes to an end next week and I go back to working regular days.  The impact of working shifts has greatly affected my body and mental state.  My feet have been feeling sore lately and I am going to speculate that it is because of my shifts.  It's been frustrating trying to keep up with myself, but I have been so tired and unmotivated to do anything inlcuding working out and keeping in shape.  This happened last time I was working shift work a few years ago.  I packed on over 30 pounds and when I got off shift and was back to days it took only a few months to lose that weight and back to normal.  So when my shift is over and things get back to normal, hopefully my climbing will be back to normal and the enthusiasm will return as well.

Feet, Ankles and Knees

Yep...it would seem that as the climbing season approaches my feet etc are acting up.  As some of you know I broke both my feet last march 09 and was back climbing 09/10 ice season.  Well now that the ice season is over my feet have been acting up.  I am going to head back to physio and get them to do some more work on and take up swimming to get some feet excercise.  This just sucks, cause i am pumped to rock cilmb this season as i wasnt able to last season cause both my feet were busted.  Perhaps I need to spend more time stretching them or just accept the fact that I broke my feet and they may not ever be the same.
